The Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking trail presents one of the most picturesque experiences
near Kathmandu, winding through quaint villages and culminating in a mesmerizing sunrise
spectacle over the Himalayas from Nagarkot. Situated 32 kilometers to the east of
Kathmandu, Nagarkot stands out as a breathtaking destination within Bhaktapur district,
renowned for its unparalleled views, particularly during dawn, when the weather permits.
Travelers often opt to spend the night in Nagarkot to witness the awe-inspiring sunrise over
the Himalayas. Notably, Nagarkot has earned its reputation as an optimal vantage point for
viewing Mount Everest and other majestic peaks of the eastern Nepalese Himalayan range.
At an elevation of 2,195 meters, Nagarkot boasts a panoramic vista of the surrounding
valleys, with the Indrawati river valley visible to the east. Its allure transcends seasons,
captivating visitors with its enduring beauty throughout the year. Springtime draws many
tourists, as the valleys burst into a vibrant array of colorful blooms, juxtaposed against the
serene backdrop of snow-capped mountains.
Nagarkot also offers opportunities for leisurely activities such as short treks and picnics,
which are immensely popular among visitors. These treks present a unique and delightful
experience, allowing adventurers to immerse themselves in nature’s wonders with minimal
effort. Traversing the nearby trails, one encounters lush forests, flower-laden meadows,

Your journey commences with a hotel pickup in Kathmandu, followed by a scenic drive to
Sundarijal (approximately 1 hour). Upon arrival, the trek kicks off from Sundarijal, where we
embark on a steep ascent alongside the expansive water pipe. Along the way, you'll
encounter picturesque waterfalls and traverse through Shivapuri National Park, offering
glimpses of wildlife. A brief pause for lunch precedes our onward journey to Chisapani
(2150m). Overnight accommodation awaits at a hotel.
Begin your day with a sunrise breakfast against the backdrop of the majestic Himalayan
range, setting the tone for the next leg of our hiking adventure towards Nagarkot. Following
a construction road until Jhule, we traverse Pati Bhanjang and continue along the next
stretch of the construction road leading to Nagarkot (2175m). Overnight stay awaits at a
hotel.
Rise early to witness the awe-inspiring sunrise over the Himalayas, weather permitting.
Nagarkot offers more than just snow-capped peaks; its vistas encompass verdant
greenery, brown-hued mountains, and concealed valleys. Following breakfast, we descend
on a trek to Chagunarayan Temple (approximately 3 hours), where you can rendezvous
with the driver before proceeding to explore Chagunarayan and Bhaktapur. In the evening,
return to Kathmandu.
