Nar Phu Valley Trek

Embark on the Nar Phu Valley trek, a journey that traverses numerous high passes,
charming villages, dense forests, ancient monasteries, and narrow canyons, leading to
the remote settlements of Nar and Phu near the Tibetan border. As the trek unfolds,
you’ll immerse yourself in some of the world’s most pristine wilderness, passing
impressive chortens and encountering herds of blue sheep. Upon exploring the Nar Phu
Valley, the route reconnects with the Annapurna Circuit trails, completing the enriching
expedition.

Day 1 – Arrival in Kathmandu

• Arrive in Kathmandu.
• Transfer to hotel.
• Rest and explore Kathmandu.
• Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 2 – Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

• Guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley, including UNESCO World Heritage
Sites such as Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and
Boudhanath Stupa.
• Meet with your trekking guide and fellow trekkers for a briefing about the trek.
• Purchase any necessary trekking equipment and supplies.
• Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 3 – Kathmandu to Jagat

• Drive from Kathmandu to Jagat (1,300m) via Besisahar.
• Enjoy scenic views of the countryside along the way.
• Approximately 8-9 hours of driving.
• Overnight stay in Jagat.

Day 4 – Jagat to Dharapani

• Trek from Jagat to Dharapani (1,860m).
• Pass through picturesque villages and terraced fields.
• Approximately 6-7 hours of walking.
• Overnight stay in Dharapani.

Day 5 – Dharapani to Koto

• Trek from Dharapani to Koto (2,600m), the gateway to the Nar Phu Valley.
• Enter the restricted area of Nar Phu.
• Approximately 5-6 hours of walking.
• Overnight stay in Koto.

Day 6 – Koto to Meta

• Trek from Koto to Meta (3,560m).
• Ascend gradually along the Nar River.
• Approximately 7-8 hours of walking.
• Overnight stay in Meta.

Day 7 – Meta to Phu Village

• Trek from Meta to Phu Village (4,080m), a traditional Tibetan village.
• Explore the ancient village and interact with local residents.
• Approximately 7-8 hours of walking.
• Overnight stay in Phu Village.

Day 8 – Acclimatization Day in Phu Village

• Rest and acclimatize to the altitude.
• Explore Phu Village and nearby monasteries.
• Overnight stay in Phu Village.

Day 9 – Phu Village to Nar Village

• Trek from Phu Village to Nar Village (4,110m) via the scenic Kang La Pass (5,320m).
• Enjoy panoramic views of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges.
• Approximately 8-9 hours of walking.
• Overnight stay in Nar Village.

Day 10 – Acclimatization Day in Nar Village

• Rest and acclimatize to the altitude.
• Explore Nar Village and visit the ancient monasteries.
• Overnight stay in Nar Village.

Day 11 – Nar Village to Ngawal

• Trek from Nar Village to Ngawal (3,660m) via the Kang La Pass.
• Descend towards Ngawal, passing through scenic landscapes.
• Approximately 7-8 hours of walking.
• Overnight stay in Ngawal.

Day 12 – Ngawal to Manang

• Trek from Ngawal to Manang (3,540m).
• Pass through picturesque villages and terraced fields.
• Approximately 5-6 hours of walking.
• Overnight stay in Manang.

Day 13 – Manang to Yak Kharka

• Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka (4,020m).
• Ascend gradually along the Marsyangdi River valley.
• Approximately 4-5 hours of walking.
• Overnight stay in Yak Kharka.

Day 14 – Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi

• Trek from Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,450m).
• Prepare for the Thorong La Pass crossing the next day.
• Approximately 3-4 hours of walking.
• Overnight stay in Thorong Phedi.

Day 15 – Thorong Phedi to Muktinath via Thorong La Pass

• Cross the Thorong La Pass (5,416m), the highest point of the trek.
• Descend to Muktinath (3,800m), a sacred pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists.
• Approximately 7-8 hours of walking.
• Overnight stay in Muktinath.

Day 16 – Muktinath to Jomsom

• Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom (2,720m).
• Enjoy views of the Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri mountains.
• Approximately 5-6 hours of walking.
• Overnight stay in Jomsom.

Day 17 – Jomsom to Pokhara

• Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara.
• Explore Pokhara.
• Overnight stay in Pokhara.

Day 18 – Pokhara to Kathmandu

• Drive or fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
• Transfer to hotel.
• Rest and celebrate the successful completion of the trek.
• Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 19 – Leisure Day in Kathmandu

• Explore Kathmandu at your own pace.
• Optional activities include shopping for souvenirs, visiting local markets, or simply
relaxing.
• Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 20 – Departure

• Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight.
